Daron grew up playing adrenaline sports: motocross, soccer and a short stint in jet ski racing, winning the Expert World Championship in 1993. At 13 years old he got hooked on ski racing and enrolled at Green Mountain Valley School in Vermont, a ski academy.  Daron made the US Ski Team at 19 and started a successful racing career, including 3 Olympic appearances.

He competed on the best Downhill tracks on the World Cup and won the classics: Beaver Creek, Bormio, Wengen, Kvitfjell, Sestriere and the prestigious Kitzbuhel's Hahnenkamm Rennen. In 2008 D won Skier X at the X Games, and has launched the Rahlves' Banzai Tour – Banzai!
