Boulder, Colo., March 1, 2007
2006 Olympian and US Ski Team member Steven Nyman inked an agreement with Ski Team apparel supplier Spyder Active Sports. The multi-discipline skier will represent Spyder for the remaining 2007 World Cup season. Nyman is collaborating with the brand on next season's product design and youth-oriented race programs.
"Nyman's the one to watch. He's strong and has the technique to become a great champion," claimed Phil Shettig, Spyder's director of product development. "He's been open at offering product feedback, and we're incorporating his input." Shettig directs Spyder's race business initiatives, and was instrumental in recruiting the skier.
The ability to offer input is a welcome proposition for the athlete as well. "Not only does Spyder provide me with the best race suits in the world, I now have the chance to help design and test product for the skier in all of us. I am a skier, and ski racing is just part of my lifestyle," Nyman said.
The Ski Team member recently took home his first World Cup victory at Italy's Val Gardena downhill course.
