Julian Carr
My name is Julian Carr, I started skiing in 8th grade, my mom taught me. Fast forward a few years, I now have an unbelievable passion for snow, the outdoors, and pushing the limits of what's possible on skis. I believe I am a skier that transcends the categorical restraints to gain appeal from all corners of the ski industry and mainstream America alike. A 15 year-old park-oriented kid is attracted to the work I produce along with the 34-year old backcountry enthusiast and everyone in between. I have many ideas to progress the sport and many photographic ideas yet to be explored with some of the award winning photographers I work with. I am also aware of the viral marketing aspect and am making that a priority.
I enjoy writing - I've been published in POWDER, OUTSIDE, freeskier.com, powdermag.com, and other local regional publications for my writing. A goal of mine is to develop my writing and continue to be a "go to" person for the magazines for my writing submissions (I have a point/counterpoint essay coming out in SKIING this year about big air). And, as a business owner in the snow industry (www.discreteheadwear.com), I will be in this industry for quite sometime, thus, motivating me to push it harder as an athlete each and every year. I am a firm believer in name association, so every time my name comes up as an athlete, or a writer, or a brand owner - people associate my name with Spyder, ultimately, when my name is published, people think Spyder.
Spyder is an absolutely amazing company and truly makes the worlds best outerwear. They comprehensively support skiing in all its facets. Spyder endorses racer dudes like Daron Rahlves, gnarly broheimer's like Bibby, park sensationalist Alex Schlopy, then have mad love for a guy like me and the way I like to get down. Spyder observes the industry as a whole and has a pulse on what they'd like to pursue for the next innovation in the ski industry. Spyder's new designs from year to year never cease to amaze me, Spyder is the culmination of supreme design, material, durability, quality, and branding.
For the upcoming season, I'd like to see deep snow, sunshine, smiles, travels, and the opportunity to ski hard and send enourmous airs. I experimented a little bit with night cliff photography last season, we came up with great results, and I am excited to see where that path leads. Down the road I want to ski off a major landmark in Vegas or New York, execute a front flip, from the height of 100 to 200 feet, and land into a gigantic foam pit. Going to be awesome !!
Thanks for stopping by my profile.
sincerely,
Julian
