When did you start skiing?
I learned to ski when I was two, and I spent the next ten years in Stowe, skiing around the mountain with local shredders. I skied with guys like Tanner Rainville, Ben Grunow, Ricky Hess, Ted Carrick, Karl Lipsky. There was a whole crew of great skiers there, and snowboarders. Kyle Clancy, Jake Blauvelt, Travis Kennedy, and others all came out of Stowe. They were the ones I looked up to and learned from, skiers and snowboarders alike.
Biggest accomplishments in you career?
The best thing that has come from my skiing career has been the ability to travel around the world to ski. Spending two weeks in Haines, AK last season on a last minute film trip changed my life. I can't imagine a better way to live.
Plans for the upcoming season?
My big goal for this year is to spend a lot of time skiing pow and filming. I want to get really comfortable shooting in the backcountry and hopefully produce some good film parts over the next few years. I just bought a sled so I can really pursue that goal. I'm also going to be doing some pipe comps and trying to think of some different runs to put together. That's what I like about halfpipe—there are pretty much limitless possibilities for creativity right now and the technicality of your run doesn't rely solely on spinning faster or adding another flip.
What do you do when you're not skiing?
Go to school, mountain bike, trampoline, play soccer, try to stay strong, fish, raft, read, write, observe, learn. I have a lot of interests outside of skiing. When my body is too broken or weary to continue this type of career, I want to embrace those interests fully and find a way to live by doing what I want, like I am now. I want to go to school and travel and learn. I will always ski for fun, though. Always.
